Intern Accountant

  • Job Context

    Empower Youth Prosperity (EYP) is a youth-focused organization committed to creating opportunities that promote economic empowerment, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods for young people in Tanzania. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail- oriented Intern Accountant to support our financial operations in Mbeya Region.

  • Job Responsibility

    1. Able to assist in recording and posting financial transactions into accounting systems.
    2. Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    3. Help with bank reconciliations and verification of financial documentation.
    4. Maintain orderly financial filing systems for receipts, payment vouchers, and other records.
    5. Assist in preparing supporting documents for audits and donor reporting.
    6. Process petty cash requests and ensure timely retirement of advances.
    7. Participate in budget tracking and monitoring of project expenditures.
    8. Ensure compliance with organizational and donor financial policies and procedures.
    9. Perform any other finance and administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Educational Requirement

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    2. Basic knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks or Excel-based tools.
    3. Good understanding of financial principles and practices.
    4. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
    5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
    6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
    8. Willingness to learn and take initiative.

  • Experience Requirement

    No prior experience required.

  • Additional Requirement

    1. Strong interest in accounting and finance.
    2. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting principles.
    3. Good communication and organizational skills.
    4. Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
    5. Ability to work well in a team environment.
